NYSA has been providing support services to mid Vancouver Island youth for more than 55 years. Our services include transitional and affordable housing, employment readiness training, life skills and personal development training, outreach support and help for young families and/or young single parents.

NYSA is looking for a passionate, detail-oriented and focused Receptionist/Administrative Assistant to serves agency visitors by greeting, welcoming, and directing them appropriately. They will also notify company personnel of visitor arrival, maintain security and monitor and operate the telephone system. The Receptionist/Administrative Assistant responds to visitors by answering questions or referring their inquiries and will also be responsible for administrative tasks including organizing & distributing paperwork, scanning, photocopying & filing documents, managing a moderate volume of emails, general office duties and providing support to various Program Directors as needed.

The successful Receptionist/Administrative Assistant should be outgoing and meticulous about keeping records as well as passionate about supporting youth. You will be expected to uphold the values of our organization while ensuring the comfort and security of our employees.

Receptionist/Administrative Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Greeting & assisting office visitors;
  • Answering the phone & directing calls;
  • Organizing & distributing paperwork;
  • Scanning, photocopying & filing documents;
  • Answering client inquiries;
  • Managing a moderate volume of emails;
  • General office duties;
  • Providing support to various Program Directors as needed; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

Receptionist/Administrative Assistant Requirements:

  • Excellent internal/external customer service skills;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills;
  • Experience with general office duties such as answering phones & emails, photocopying, filing and other similar tasks;
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Teams;
  • Must be available to start at 8:30 am sharp, five days per week;
  • Experience in youth support or similar social service an asset;
  • Reliable transportation is required;
  • Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.

This position is Full-time Monday to Friday 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, 37.5 hours per week. Pay: $20.00 per hour. Applications will remain open until a suitable candidate has been selected.
